There are prophets scattered throughout the Bible, and with them there was their prophecies on the birth of Jesus Christ. There were well over 300 facts that had to be proven in one person to show that he was the Messiah. Pretty tall order for one man to fill, however, all of these were filled by Jesus. A book that Josh McDowell wrote titled The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict goes into more detail on the prophecies of Jesus. Now, I am not a big gambling man, nor should I be, but lets look at the odds of these prophecies actually coming true. In the book Christ: The Basis of Faith by Johnny Derouen (yes, this is the Bible study I am doing), it states that:

The chance for anyone to fulfill just eight of these nearly 300 prophecies is 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000 (that’s one in a quadrillion).

Then I went to a web site called CARM (Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry) that went even further into the odds of even just 48 of the prophecies being fulfilled by Jesus Christ and the site states:

…Stoner considers 48 prophecies and says, “we find the chance that any one man fulfilled all 48 prophecies to be 1 in 10157, or 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

The estimated number of electrons in the universe is around 1079. It should be quite evident that Jesus did not fulfill the prophecies by accident.”

How is it then that Jesus fulfilled all 300 prophecies about him? Easy, we have to remember that Jesus is not a man, he is God, he is the Spirit in the form of man. This just goes to show you that God is no joke, or conspiracy. He is real, and He is ours, just like we are his. All we have to do is trust the Lord our God and he will perform amazing feats with you. Today’s reading is one of those prophecies from the prophet Isaiah. Lets hear what he has to say.

Todays Reading: Isaiah 9: 2, 6-7

2 The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this.

These verses are all from Isaiah telling us God is there for all mankind, even the ones who do not currently know him. Then Isaiah tells us that “A child is born, to us a son is given…”. The prophecy of Jesus’ birth is right there before us, however, this is no ordinary child. He goes on to say “…he will be called a Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” . Isaiah is speaking about Jesus Christ, and this isn’t’ after Christ’s birth, but hundreds of years before Christ was born! God doesn’t always speak to us, or everyone, but when he does, give us signs, or speaks to us through prayer; we must listen, no matter how foolish it may sound. God knows everything and anything there is to know, and he will not lead you away from him. Amen!

This will be something I will do on a weekly basis. I want to help get the word out on sites that are inspiring and all around good for the community and the world. Today’s site features a middle school(where I went when I was in middle school) class in the town I live in.

This group of kids call themselves “Mr. Ns Haiti Crew”. Their goal is to raise as much money as possible for the relief efforts of Haiti. They are doing this by creating braclets much like the “LiveStrong” braclets and asking for at least a $2 donation per braclet. So far they have raised almost $4,000 since February 11th. The site itself is hosted by blogspot, and is maintained by the students in the class. I would like to help get the word on their cause and possibly help them reach their goal.

I have asked if there is a paypal account that we can send donations too and if there is a way we can order braclets over the internet. Either way, I will keep you all informed on my findings. However, if you would like to donate now, please send all donations through Paypal to jkspratt@q.com and I will make sure all orders or donations are delivered to you (if you order a bracelet, make sure you give me the right information to get the bracelet to you!). Keep up the great work West Middle School and I hope you reach your goal!

My dog, Zoee, has a look that is infectious, so infectious it keeps her out of trouble with me. However, her ability get out of trouble does not work on my wife. Kaely constantly is getting frustrated with with Zoee and then gets frustrated with me for not punishing her for all the things shes done. My typical response is, “but look at that face honey! How can you be mad at that?!” her response then sounds like “Easy, she peed on the floor, she chewed up the dog bed, and shes been digging in the trash!”. Needless to say, our little Zoee, needs to be trained, and soon!

Zoee, is a purebred long-haired Daschund who has reddish brown hair. She is about 16 months old and still has plenty of puppy in her. However, we do our best to give her nylabones (those hard plastic bones that are almost impossible to ruin), real bones, and toys to keep her occupied. However, she always seems to get in trouble with her three greatest “tricks”, which are 1) going to the bathroom in the house 2) chewing on inappropriate things and 3) barking. All three are more than likely my fault at times, but I cannot take all the blame.

Her going to the bathroom in the house is usually not my fault. I let her eat, after a few minutes, she goes out, walks around for a few minutes, does her business then comes in. Not five minutes being inside she has gone to the bathroom again, only this time on my kitchen floor. Now the chewing, well its expected, she is a puppy and all puppies chew, but why can’t she chew on the flavored bones instead of my cabinet, or a toy instead of the dog bed!? I swear sometimes I think she does it because she knows she can get a way with it. Finally the barking… The high pitched yelp that tends to keep me up at night, that interupts my TV watching, or just down right annoys me while on the computer. We have a bark collar for training, but I don’t think she cares if she gets zapped, that or she’s not the brightest dog and forgets because she will shock herself up one side and down the other and yes, we know it zaps her because she gets quiet for a few moments then starts right back up.

My question for you all is, what has worked for you while training your dog(s)? I am giving our beloved Zoee one month to shape up, and after that, shes gone. The sound of that breaks my heart, but for the sake of myself, wife and soon-to-be son, she will need to go. So any and all tips on how to successfully train a dog would be wonderful!

Awe yea thats right! Last night I got an email from the wonderful game creating juggernaut, Blizzard with the best gaming news of 2010. I had been selected to beta test StarCraft 2. So the first thing I did was login to my battle.net account and started downloading the game, wait no, that wasn’t first… Oh yea! I instantly picked up my phone and text two of my good gaming buddies and started gloating! Man, I know its not nice to flaunt things others don’t have, but come on, beta testing for thee one RTS that has been on all gamers minds for the last 5 years is worthy of a little (or a lot) or flaunting. So after that I started the painstakingly long download that was set to last 12 hours and then headed to bed dreaming about the Terran, Protoss, and Zerg.

After church today and helping my wife get more of the baby clothes washed and more toys, diapers, and accessories put away, I played my first ever game of Starcraft 2. I did random as it has been such a long time since I have played and wasn’t good at the game in the first place(I was a Warcraft 2 and 3 player). Unfortunately I think I got stuck with one of the hardest classes to play, which was Protoss. Good thing for me is the other guy had never played the game before so when I bombarded his base with with a nice air assault the game was over. 1-0 with StarCraft 2 so of course my ego got a little big for my britches.

The second game I was not so lucky, I was Terran and my opponent was Zerg. I decided to try a well balanced build of ground and air assault with a few artillery units for fun. However, he decided to mass zergling rush and wiped that smug grin right off my face, needless to say the wind in my sails were gone. I will keep giving more StarCraft 2 updates; along with some screenshots and maybe even some video of me playing, since being a beta tester is about trying out all aspects of the game and to get everyone else excited for the game, I thought I would help do my part.

If you are also beta testing StarCraft 2 and are new to the game, then I would suggest watching some of the game replays located at StarCraft 2 Strategy Masters. They have put Hi-Def game replays, along with some commentary of what they are doing and why they are doing it. Another good place to look for guides is at StarCraft 2 Armory, they have guides and a lot of news on Starcraft 2.

Last night, before bed I realized I had not done my daily Bible study yet. Which is my typical “Oh crap, I’m a procrastinator” style. So tiredly I opened my Bible and read the daily passage which was Colossians 1: 15-18, which reads:

15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

Now ask yourself, “what does that passage tell you about Jesus? What has he done for us?” Now stop reading for a second and ponder that thought for a minute.

Welcome back, pretty amazing stuff huh? Jesus Christ has done everything for us, we are his creation, everything we use daily was created by Jesus. The more I thought it about it, the more it blew my mind. I am not sure if you guys have had a moment like this in your walk with the Lord, but HOLY COW!!! Talk about an eye-opener. The coolest part is everything and everyone he created for a purpose, a purpose that to many of us is unknown yet, and it is our job to get to know Jesus well enough to let ourselves trust him to lead us to do his tasks, whether that be lead fellow Christians or help show non-Christians the way to salvation. Am I the only one here getting extremely excited by this?!

Sorry for being so excited, but after sitting there, digesting what I just read, I stopped and prayed, and I prayed for a long time. I prayed for a lot of things, some more personal than others but one of the main things that I kept coming back to was asking the Lord to let me know more about Him, to be comfortable enough to give my mind, body, and soul to Him. I know the Lord heard me, and how do I know this? Because before today, I do not think I would have had the courage to share all of this with the who interwebs. Yet, here I am, as giddy as I was when I started dating my now wife. Praise the Lord!

However, I am a Nintendo “fanboy” and have had every Nintendo console made. Yes, I love the Mario and Megaman, but lately, my DSi has been having me grasp a new game that is not in either of these titles. ScribbleNauts is the best DSi puzzle-based game that makes you think outside the box, or Gamecube for that matter.

You play as Maxwell, a scribbleNaut. Whats Maxwell’s task as a Scribblenaut? He needs to collect as many starites as he can. He does this by going through levels. There are two types of levels, puzzle levels and action levels. Puzzle levels are problems that you would find in our everyday lives (such as having to climb a ladder) where the Starite is awarded once you hsave climbed the ladder. Action levels are more for the gamers who like the 2D side-scrolling games (like Mario and Sonic) You have to make your way across the landscape facing things like sharks, tornadoes and spikes. With over 15,000 different items at your disposal, you will have no problem finding the right tools to solve the hardest of puzzles. Another cool thing about this game is that it does not recognize profanity, so it makes it great for all age levels.

The game takes you through a total of ten different stage each stage has 22 levels in it (eleven puzzles and eleven action). You start with the beginner stuff that, for the most part, teaches you the game. From there you can pick and choose where you want to go, you can unlock more stages when you earn your Starites. After each game you get rated on number of objects you had to use to complete the puzzle, your style points (if you use something creative), and the amount of time it took. Then you get Merit awards for things like not using weapons, using a new item, and making the people in the puzzle happen. All the points are stored.

ScribbleNauts is a mind game that has so much replay value than most puzzle games as there are always multiple ways to solve puzzles. The easy-to-use for this game makes it extremely easy to pick up and learn. Again, this game is great for kids in elementary school to full grown adults. Yes this game makes you think outside the box, and yes you will get frustrated at times. The key is to always have an open mind, the mind of a ScribbleNaut. Though I have not beating this game, I can tell you know that I will eventually and will most likely go back and play it again and again. If you get the chance, pick up this game and learn how fun and easy it is to let this game scribble it’s way into your heart.

I am currently reading a new book on my Sony eReader 300 that is a bible study. It’s one that I just started yesterday and I thought I would maybe start posting occasionally some of the readings it suggests and some of the questions it asks. It asks to write down your own answers to the questions it asks so I may even though some of my thoughts out there as well, but that all depends on how confident I am feeling.

The book is called Christ by Johnny Derouen. It is published by Student Life Bible Study. The book takes you through 48 weeks of daily studies, five studies a week. Each day starts out with a Bible passage that pertains to the lesson at hand, then there are a few paragraphs of insight and material, then it ends up asking a few questions. I am excited about this Bible Study because it doesn’t seem like it will take too long to do the daily studies unlike some of the more in depth ones you can find.

Today’s verse is John 5 39-40, which reads

39. You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, 40. yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

The book then talks about how the Bible explains Jesus, and how we read the Scriptures to understand more about Jesus, because once we fully believe in Jesus, we can listen to his calling, and do great things in life. It then finishes the lesson by asking a few a question like, what is one question you would like answered about Christ or one thing you want to discover about Him.

Again, I will not be posting Bible Studies often, but I thought I would share with you what I am currently getting involved with, and yes, on occasion, I will make posts about my experience through this Bible study and share some of my responses.

Well today my wife and I had another doctor’s appointment to track the progress of our soon-to-be son. Kaely (my wife) has gestational diabetes so they are monitoring the baby’s size a lot more than normal. So our first appointment was with the ultrasound technician who hooked us up with what will most likely be the last pictures of our son until he is in this world with us. Technician said our little guy is roughly 6 lbs. 14 oz. (okay, so maybe he isn’t so little).

Afterwards we went the the appointment with the doctor who will be in the delivery room with us. She said she is expecting him to be an 8 lbs baby, but Kaely and I are pretty sure the doctor is just saying that to keep Kaely calm. I know I know, we both love our conspiracies!

Anyway, the baby looks healthy and is very active, so active that Kaely is constantly having problems sleeping. Which means he is definitely following in his daddy’s footsteps as far as activity levels go (sorry Kaely!). From here on out Kaely is going in for weekly visits and to be honest, I have a feeling he will be here before his March 30th due date.

Hello world! My name is Jeremy. I am a 20-something adult who is about to experience a life-changing event! My wife is 8 months pregnant with our first child. Of course, I am impatient and we found out that we are having a boy. So far he is healthy and all things are pointing to a good delivery. Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I live in Iowa where I work as a Support Analyst at an office furniture company.

A few things I enjoy doing is spending time with my wife, playing games, and learning more about the Lord our Savior. I have multiple sites I am helping with, the first is involved with my love of our God, the site is www.love4christ.com. The site is no where near where myself or my uncle want it to be, but it is a slow work in progress. Second project I am involved with is www.titansofgaming.com. This is a clan for League of Legends and I am the clan leader. I am in the process of trying to talk my wife into blogging with me on a family site so we can share with the world our experience of being a new, young family.

This blog will have all of my random thoughts along with some pressing issues or beliefs that I share. Pretty much the spectrum of this blog will be everywhere, much like my personality. I hope you all enjoy!
