What Has He Done?
Last night, before bed I realized I had not done my daily Bible study yet. Which is my typical “Oh crap, I’m a procrastinator” style. So tiredly I opened my Bible and read the daily passage which was Colossians 1: 15-18, which reads:
15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
Now ask yourself, “what does that passage tell you about Jesus? What has he done for us?” Now stop reading for a second and ponder that thought for a minute.
Welcome back, pretty amazing stuff huh? Jesus Christ has done everything for us, we are his creation, everything we use daily was created by Jesus. The more I thought it about it, the more it blew my mind. I am not sure if you guys have had a moment like this in your walk with the Lord, but HOLY COW!!! Talk about an eye-opener. The coolest part is everything and everyone he created for a purpose, a purpose that to many of us is unknown yet, and it is our job to get to know Jesus well enough to let ourselves trust him to lead us to do his tasks, whether that be lead fellow Christians or help show non-Christians the way to salvation. Am I the only one here getting extremely excited by this?!
Sorry for being so excited, but after sitting there, digesting what I just read, I stopped and prayed, and I prayed for a long time. I prayed for a lot of things, some more personal than others but one of the main things that I kept coming back to was asking the Lord to let me know more about Him, to be comfortable enough to give my mind, body, and soul to Him. I know the Lord heard me, and how do I know this? Because before today, I do not think I would have had the courage to share all of this with the who interwebs. Yet, here I am, as giddy as I was when I started dating my now wife. Praise the Lord!

I talked about this Sunday night with my students. So often we picture Christ as a human, perhaps a baby or maybe on the cross. And these pictures aren't wrong but He is GOD and ruler and creator and wow we miss the point when we confine Him to His earthly life. Isaiah 6:1-7 gives us an unhindered perspective from Isaiah and truly shows what our response to Him should be.
I am excited to hear about what Christ is doing in and through you, please let me know if you need anything.
Leave your response!
